The Ontario Christian School Administrators Association primarily serves and supports members who are employed as administrators in OACS schools in Ontario and Eastern Canada.  OCSAA develops and maintains Christian educational leadership standards by providing courses, conferences and professional publications.

OCSAA Part Time Executive Director

The Board of Directors of the Ontario Christian School Administrators Association (OCSAA) is excited to post the recently created position of Part Time Executive Director.  The initial time allotment is 25% of a full-time leadership position.  The successful candidate will be a follower of Jesus Christ, will have a proven leadership track record, will embrace cutting edge learning leadership research and possess marketing sensibilities.

The position includes the following responsibilities,

  • Nurture a positive professional culture in all matters pertaining to OCSAA
  • Prepare a quarterly news brief for the members, including the honorary members
  • Be the first-response support for member concerns
  • Be the visionary leader for all OCSAA sponsored conferences and course offerings
  • Develop a marketing strategy for OCSAA
  • Create bridges and strengthen relationships with like minded organizations
  • Manage the annual budget

OCSAA Summer Workshops

STRENGTHENING THE HEARTBEAT IN LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP -
Strengthening the Heartbeat in Leadership is designed to help experienced, beginning or interested administrators learn what it takes to serve long term in Christian Schools. It will focus on five aspects of leadership which include Resilience, Relationships, Resourcefulness, Recovery and Recommitment.  Presenters throughout the week will include experienced principals and retired superintendents sharing insights on the theme of leadership for the long haul. This workshop will challenge participants to find their gifts in administration and process the wisdom of experienced administrators through selected readings, group discussions and journal work while ending the week with a personal plan to thrive in Christian leadership. This will be five days of authentic and interactive learning from and with seasoned leaders with a variety of experience.

AN INTRODUCTION TO ELEMENTARY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION WORKSHOP -
This workshop provides opportunities for the participants to engage in discussion about the key aspects of successful elementary school administration.  The successful participant will leave the workshop with a better understanding of leadership issues, the importance of the administrator’s role, practices and policies, and balancing of personal and professional lives.  The structure of the workshop is designed to encourage much good interaction with colleagues in similar positions.  This is a good workshop for elementary school administrators who are just beginning their careers or for administrators who have a few years of experience and would like to learn more.

OCSAA / OACS / Edifide Summer ICS Course

INTRODUCTION TO EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP - (ICS 150310 S12)
This course is a study of leadership and practice in building school communities that promote learning for all members.  The focus is on organizational and leadership theory, school mission and vision, collaborative problem solving and community building, and personal leadership qualities.  Throughout, students will explore Biblical principles that guide educational leaders in schools.
Instructor – Dr. Albert Boerema teaches educational leadership at Calvin College.  Before coming to Calvin College he served as a principal for eighteen years in British Columbia.  He is a graduate of Vanderbilt University’s Department of Leadership, Policy and Organizations.  His research interests center on leadership, leadership development, and leadership for school change.
Tuesday, July 3 to Friday, July 13, 2012 – 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Redeemer University College, Ancaster.  Cost – $1015 (All payments for this course are to be made through the Institute for Christian Studies.)

Christian Schools Canada Conference

There is still time to take advantage of early registration costs for the Christian Schools Canada 6th Leadership Conference, September 27-29, 2012 in Cambridge Ontario.

Members registered before May 31st pay $325 (+taxes), non-members pay $425 (+taxes). Prices increase on June 1st.
